Meet Your New Favorite Filler: RHA

Move over Juvederm and Restylane — there’s a new dermal filler in town! We’re so excited to announce the addition of Revance RHA dermal filler to our collection.

Before we get into what makes RHA so unique, let’s take a 600 ft view of what dermal filler is, and how it works.

Unlike Neurotoxins (such as Botox) that freeze the treated area, injectable fillers smooth out wrinkles in the treated area by filling in the skin — hence the name filler.

The active ingredient found in dermal fillers is hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a naturally-occurring substance that is naturally found in the skin.

Hyaluronic acid has the ability to store moisture and gives skin that plump, hydrated look. As you age, your body loses the hyaluronic acid found naturally in the body: Although you may see this ingredient listed in some of your favorite skincare products, topical application can only moisturize. Injected, however, it can restore plumpness and replenish your body’s natural production of hyaluronic acid.

Now that we’ve got the basics on filler, let’s get into why we love RHA.

Initially used and created by European doctors in 2015, RHA has made its way to America and is the first and only FDA-approved HA filler for dynamic deep folds and wrinkles. In Layman’s terms, dynamic refers to the areas on the face where a lot of movement occurs — think smile lines and furrowed brows. RHA is gentle enough and developed in such a way that it adapts to the natural movement of your face.

With very few chemical modifications, your skin gets HA delivered in a way that preserves its natural structure and easily mimics the HA already preexisting within your body. This means fewer chemicals in your body and a seamless injection that looks and feels like your own skin. Wave goodbye to any stiffness that you’re used to, this designer filler offers a new kind of experience.

Additionally, there are three different RHA formulas titled 2,3,4 that are tailored to your precise needs. When it comes to filler, there is no one size fits all option.

RHA 2 and 3 are used for mid-to deep injections into the dermis. Primarily it is used to fill and correct moderate to severe dynamic facial wrinkles and folds. RHA 4, on the other hand, can be used to inject the filler deep into the dermis as well as superficial subcutaneous tissue for the correction of severe dynamic facial wrinkles and folds.  If all of this is going over your head — don’t worry. When you come in for your consultation and appointment we’ll explain which one is best for your needs and why.

While we’re excited about including RHA in our offerings, as always, remember that the injector is just as important as the product itself.  Every practitioner has different techniques and experience, so finding someone that jives with your worldviews is advised.

Still, we’re confident that between our master injectors and RHA offering, you’ll be quite pleased with your result. Give a call and see what RHA can do for you: 650.964.2200!
