BOTOX / Dysport

BOTOX and Dysport are commonly used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles. Our clinical staff injects BOTOX under your skin and into the muscle in areas surrounding your eyes, forehead, and mouth to smooth crow’s feet, frown and worry lines.

BOTOX and Dysport are made from a purified protein and injections block nerve impulses, which both weaken muscles and relax wrinkles to give your face a rejuvenated look. These treatments may also be useful for excessive sweating and can be injected into hands, feet, and underarms.

Our approach to BOTOX / Dysport

During your BOTOX consultation with our clinical staff, we will discuss the options and alternatives in great detail, providing you with all the information you need to make an informed decision about this non-surgical procedure.

Prior to your BOTOX or Dysport injections, our clinical staff will discuss a number of important decisions to make when planning this non-surgical procedure. We will walk you through your options and share recommendations based on the latest research, advances in the field, and what’s best for your particular case, including its use in:

  • Armpits, palms of hands and feet for excessive sweating
  • Crow’s feet to remove wrinkles on the outer side of your eyes
  • Forehead
  • Glabella, which is the area between your eyebrows
  • Nose to remove bunny lines on your nose
  • Perioral to remove vertical lip wrinkles around your mouth
  • Platysma to remove neck bands

Our clinical staff will also design an individualized plan for you and will customize the dosage based on the size of the specific muscle and your final desired effect. We are also able to use BOTOX or Dysport to achieve a beautifully shaped eyebrow through his artistic vision.

The SF | Bay Area Plastic Surgery difference

BOTOX and Dysport injections are very commonly performed at our practice. BOTOX is done in one of our two office locations using ice packs to numb the area or an optional numbing cream; treatment time is typically 1/2 hour and the results last 3 to 4 months.

Some of our patients also combine their BOTOX or Dysport injections with other cosmetic or plastic surgery procedures, such as other injectable dermal fillers (Juvéderm, Radiesse, LATISSE, Restylane / Restylane Lyft and fat injection), chemical peels, laser hair removal, sclerotherapy and laser vein treatment, and skin care. NOTE: If patients are having a face lift / neck lift, brow lift / forehead lift, eyelid surgery, or nose job cosmetic procedure in the Operating Room, they can choose to add a BOTOX injection.

Recovering from BOTOX at SF | Bay Area Plastic Surgery

After BOTOX injections, patients can resume normal daily activities. Our clinical staff recommends that you avoid strenuous activities the evening after the injection(s), but you will have no additional restrictions after that. Bruising is rare, but occasionally a slight redness may occur where the injections were placed. This redness will dissipate by the next morning.

We will schedule a follow-up 2 weeks after your first injections to evaluate the proper dose and placement of Dysport or BOTOX.
