How Dysport Differs From Botox

When it comes to cosmetic treatments, erring on the side of natural is typically the best place to start. The SF Bay Area approach to aesthetics takes this idea and elevates it, focusing on an approach that helps you look like you, but with more confidence. We approach our non-invasive treatments with artistry and elegance, aiming to make your journey a transformative one. What better time to take a leap of faith than the seasons shifting from winter to spring?

Spring is nearly here and with it comes more daylight and more socializing. While confidence comes from within, a little boost on the outside can help too. Prepare for Spring Break or just for more photo ops by reducing and eliminating wrinkles with Dysport

Here’s everything you need to know about the neurotoxin:

Think of Dysport as Botox’s fraternal twin sister. They’re both neurotoxins, which may sound scary, but isn’t. When injected, Neurotoxins decrease muscle activity by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles. With the injected muscle unable to contract, the treated wrinkles relax and soften for up to four months.

Dysport is a common (and quick!) procedure used to treat crow’s feet, forehead lines, laugh lines, and other signs of aging. It offers temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles. The treatment is injected directly into the target facial area to prevent muscle contraction.

Sound familiar? That’s because it works essentially the same way Botox does. The prime difference between Botox and Dysport is that Dysport spreads quicker and covers more surface area, making it great for larger surface areas like the forehead.

Additionally, the system of measuring is different. While both deal in units, Dysport uses more volume, meaning you’ll need close to double or triple the amount of units you may be used to. (If you’re not sure what this means, don’t worry, we’ll talk you through the process in-office.)

Another difference is that Dysport results typically show up quicker than Botox — in just a couple of days — making it a great alternative if you have an event coming up and want to ensure you’re presenting your best self.

However, keep in mind that Dysport is typically meant for those with moderate or severe wrinkles, so it won’t be the right fit for everyone.

Whether you’re a seasoned injectable pro looking to try something new, or a total newbie, SF Bay Plastic Surgery is your partner. During your consultation, we’ll talk through if Dysport is right for you and what you can expect from your treatment.

Try it on its own, or pair your Dysport with another treatment like filler. The choice is yours: (650) 964-2200.
