Our Approach to Lip Enhancement

During your initial lip enhancement or lip surgery consultation in Mountain View, Los Gatos, & Morgan Hill with Dr. Fazilat, he will discuss the options and alternatives in great detail, providing you with all the information you need to make an informed decision about this procedure.

Your consultation will also include a complete facial analysis and a discussion about FDA-approved lip implants, which have a natural appearance, are comprised of soft silicone, are permanent, and don’t restrict lip movement.

Once you have booked your lip enhancement or lip surgery, Dr. Fazilat’s office will coordinate the location and time of your procedure. You will receive a pre-operative appointment, which is typically two weeks before your surgery. During this appointment, you will be given instructions for your surgery, as well as any medical request forms for necessary blood work or related medical tests. Dr. Fazilat will also take any pre-operative photos and review your planned procedure(s), so you can ask any final questions. Typically, lip enhancement surgery is performed as an out-patient procedure under general or local anesthesia with a certified anesthesiologist; surgical times are typically 30 minutes for each lip. After completely numbing your lips, Dr. Fazilat will make a small incision that will not be visible on the inside of each corner of your mouth. At the conclusion of your surgery, Dr. Fazilat will use a dissolvable suture to close the incisions.

Some of Dr. Fazilat’s patients also have their lip enhancement or lip implant surgery combined with other procedures, such as a rhinoplasty / nose job, face lift / neck lift, chin liposuction, a brow lift / forehead lift, or BOTOX®/Dysport treatments to make you look even more beautiful.

Recovering from lip enhancement at SF | Bay Area Plastic Surgery

After lip enhancement or lip surgery, patients are encouraged to walk that evening to prevent possible blood clots. You can return to your home the same day as your surgery; however, there may be some swelling and bruising for the first 48 hours, which will dissipate after 5 days. There is a relatively rapid recovery period of 2-3 days. Dr. Fazilat advises you not to eat crunchy food such as carrots, or food with sharp edges for about 1 week.

After lip enhancement or lip surgery, patients typically return to work within 5 days, though strenuous activity should be avoided for 1 week. Patients should also have an adult stay with them for 24 hours following the surgery to monitor their recovery.
