Our Approach to Body Lift Surgery

At SF | Bay Area Plastic Surgery, we understand that feeling comfortable and confident is the goal of many patients. We are committed to enhancing your appearance and providing you with outstanding results. Upon scheduling your procedure, you will receive a pre-operative appointment, which is scheduled-two weeks prior to your surgery date. During this appointment, you will be given instructions for your surgery, as well as any medical request forms for necessary blood work or related medical tests. Dr. Shahin Fazilat will also take any pre-operative photos and review your planned procedure(s) to ensure that they are customized to your unique individual needs. After your pre-operative appointment, if you have any questions regarding your instructions, you can contact our offices in Mountain View or Morgan Hill, CA by phone or email at any time.

The SF | Bay Area Plastic Surgery Difference

Our body lift surgery is a common procedure that Dr. Fazilat performs in his two practices in the Bay Area. Typically, operations are performed under general anesthesia with a certified anesthesiologist; surgical times are 4 to 8 hours. During the surgery, Dr. Fazilat will make incisions to remove excess skin and fat from the areas desired by you.

Some of Dr. Fazilat’s patients also have their surgery combined with other procedures, such as a breast lift, an arm lift, or laser liposuction to enhance their bodies.

Recovering From a Body Lift at SF | Bay Area Plastic Surgery

After body lift or belt lipectomy surgery, you are encouraged to walk the evening of your surgery to prevent possible blood clots. You can typically return to work within 2 weeks, though strenuous activity should be avoided for 4-6 weeks.

Drainage tubes are placed at the incision site to collect excess blood or fluid for 10 to 14 days after surgery. A compression binder may also be worn to help promote proper healing.

Absorbable sutures are used for body lift surgery and drains are removed 10 to 14 days after the procedure. Any post-operative pain, swelling and/or sensitivity will commonly diminish over the first few weeks. Scars from body lift incisions begin to fade in a few months. Dr. Fazilat will schedule a follow-up post-recovery office visit to discuss your progress.
