During your breast augmentation consultation with Dr. Fazilat, he will discuss the options and alternatives in great detail, providing you with all the information you need to make an informed decision about breast augmentation. The site of breast implant placement, the site of incision, the type and size of the implant, and an opportunity to “try on the look” will also be discussed prior to your breast enhancement surgery.

What is Breast Augmentation?

Breast implants may give women with small or unevenly sized breasts a fuller, firmer, better proportioned, more natural look that is one or more cup sizes larger. Breast augmentation (also known as breast enlargement surgery) can also balance breast size and compensate for reduced breast mass after pregnancy, weight loss, breast cancer surgery, or even to correct a congenital breast defect. Initial Consultation

Prior to your breast augmentation, Dr. Fazilat will discuss a number of important decisions to make when planning your breast enhancement surgery.

He will personally walk you through your options and share recommendations based on the latest research, advances in the field, and what’s best for your particular case, including:

Size
Shape and texture
Type of breast implants: saline-filled or silicone gel-filled
Scar location
Breast implant location: either placed under or over the breast muscle through an incision around the areola, under the arm or, most commonly, underneath the breast and just above the natural crease.

Once you have booked your breast augmentation surgery, Dr. Fazilat’s office will coordinate the location and time of your breast augmentation surgery. You will receive a pre-operative appointment, which is typically two weeks before your surgery. During this appointment, you will be given instructions for your procedure, as well as any medical request forms for necessary blood work or related medical tests. Dr. Fazilat will also take any pre-operative photos and review your planned procedure(s), so you can ask any final questions. Our office will contact you by phone or by email to review your instructions and your health history. Breast augmentation surgery is one of the most common procedures that Dr. Fazilat performs in his practice. Typically, operations are performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia with a certified anesthesiologist; surgical times are 1 to 1.5 hours. Some of Dr. Fazilat’s patients also have their surgery combined with other procedures, such as a breast lift, a tummy tuck or laser liposuction for more satisfying results overall.

Recovering From Breast Augmentation at SF | Bay Area Plastic Surgery

After breast augmentation surgery, it is typical for our patients to feel tired and sore; however, this soreness usually passes in a day or two with many patients returning to work within a week, though strenuous activity should be avoided for up to four weeks. The patient should also have an adult stay with them for 24 hours following the surgery to monitor their recovery.

Stitches are removed a week to 10 days after breast enhancement surgery. Any post-operative pain, swelling, and/or sensitivity will commonly diminish over the first few weeks. Finally, scars from breast augmentation incisions begin to fade in a few months and continue to fade for months or years to come.
