A mini abdominoplasty, also known as a partial abdominoplasty or “mini tummy tuck,” is an alternative to the popular tummy tuck procedure performed by Dr. Shahin Fazilat. This surgery requires a smaller incision below your navel, reducing the appearance of a protruding lower abdomen. The best candidates for a mini abdominoplasty, or mini tummy tuck surgery, are those who need just a little improvement to reach their desired results vs. a complete tummy tuck. A mini abdominoplasty does leave a permanent scar just above the pubic area, but it is most often concealed by a bikini or by low-cut underwear.
Recovering From a Mini Tummy Tuck at SF|Bay Area Plastic Surgery
After mini abdominoplasty or mini tummy tuck surgery, our patients are encouraged to walk the evening of your surgery to prevent possible blood clots. Patients can typically return to work within 7-10 days, though strenuous activity should be avoided for 4 weeks. The patient should also have an adult stay with them for 24 hours following the surgery to monitor their recovery. All stitches used in a mini abdominoplasty are absorbable, and drains are inserted. Any post-operative pain, swelling, and/or sensitivity will commonly diminish over the first few weeks. Finally, scars from mini tummy tuck incisions begin to fade in a few months but can be concealed with clothing or a bikini. Dr. Fazilat will schedule a follow-up post-recovery office visit in Mountain View or Morgan Hill, California to discuss your progress.
