Our Approach to Mini Abdominoplasty Procedures

During your initial mini abdominoplasty consultation with Dr. Fazilat, he will discuss the options and alternatives in great detail about a mini tummy tuck vs. a traditional tummy tuck. This will provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision about which procedure is best for you. The site of the incisions will also be discussed prior to your mini tummy tuck surgery, which is typically placed very low on your stomach.

The SF | Bay Area Plastic Surgery Difference

Once you have booked your mini abdominoplasty surgery at SF|Bay Area Plastic Surgery, Dr. Fazilat will coordinate the location and time of your surgery. You will receive a pre-operative appointment, which is typically two weeks before your surgery.

During this appointment, you will be given instructions for your surgery, as well as any medical request forms for necessary blood work or related medical tests. Dr. Fazilat will also take any pre-operative photos and review your planned procedure(s), so you can ask any final questions. Our office will contact you by phone or by email to review your instructions and your health history.

Typically, operations are performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia with a certified anesthesiologist; surgical times are 1 to 2 hours. During mini abdominoplasty surgery, Dr. Fazilat will make one incision above the pubic hairline which is typically slightly longer than a C-section scar. He will then excise the excess skin without typically pulling the muscle together. There is also no re-positioning of the naval.

Some of Dr. Fazilat’s patients also have their mini tummy tuck surgery combined with other procedures, such as breast augmentation, breast lift, a Mommy Makeover, or laser liposuction to create the perfect solution for a new you.

Recovering From a Mini Tummy Tuck at SF|Bay Area Plastic Surgery

After mini abdominoplasty or mini tummy tuck surgery, our patients are encouraged to walk the evening of your surgery to prevent possible blood clots. Patients can typically return to work within 7-10 days, though strenuous activity should be avoided for 4 weeks. The patient should also have an adult stay with them for 24 hours following the surgery to monitor their recovery. All stitches used in a mini abdominoplasty are absorbable, and drains are inserted. Any post-operative pain, swelling, and/or sensitivity will commonly diminish over the first few weeks. Finally, scars from mini tummy tuck incisions begin to fade in a few months but can be concealed with clothing or a bikini. Dr. Fazilat will schedule a follow-up post-recovery office visit in Mountain View or Morgan Hill, California to discuss your progress.
