Breast augmentation with lift is a frequently performed combination of two cosmetic surgery procedures. Dr. Shahin Fazilat’s patients elect to have breast augmentation with lift surgery, also known as simultaneous mastopexy and augmentation or breast rejuvenation, for a variety of personal, medical, and aesthetic reasons.
Breast augmentation with lift restores a natural and symmetrical appearance to the female chest. It maintains body proportion, allows clothes to fit better, and most importantly, boosts self-confidence for women who have experienced weight loss, reduced breast mass after pregnancy, lost one or both breasts to mastectomy, or even to correct a congenital breast defect.
Our approach to breast augmentation with lift
During your consultation with Dr. Fazilat, he will discuss the procedure in great detail, providing you with all the information you need to make an informed decision about breast augmentation with lift. The site of breast implants placement, the site of incision, the type and size of implant, and an opportunity to “try on the look” will also be discussed prior to your surgery.
Prior to your surgery, Dr. Fazilat will discuss a number of important decisions to make when planning your surgery. He will personally walk you through your options and share recommendations based on the latest research, advances in the field, and what’s best for your particular case, including:
- Size
- Shape and texture
- Type of breast implants: saline-filled or silicone gel-filled
- Scar location
- Breast implants location: either placed under or over the breast muscle through an incision around the areola, under the arm or, most commonly, underneath the breast and just above the natural crease.
The SF | Bay Area Plastic Surgery difference
Once you have booked your surgery, Dr. Fazilat’s office will coordinate the location and time of your breast augmentation with lift surgery. You will receive a pre-operative appointment, which is typically two weeks before your surgery. During this appointment, you will be given instructions for your surgery, as well as any medical request forms for necessary blood work or related medical tests. Dr. Fazilat will also take any pre-operative photos and review your planned procedure(s), so you can ask any final questions. Our office will contact you by phone or by email to review your instructions and your health history.
Breast augmentation with lift surgery is a common procedure that Dr. Fazilat performs in his practice. Typically, these operations are done as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia with a certified anesthesiologist; surgical times are 2.5 to 3.5 hours, though the time may vary depending on the technique.
Some of Dr. Fazilat’s patients also have their surgery combined with other procedures, a tummy tuck or liposuction for a more appealing outcome.
Recovering from breast augmentation with lift at SF | Bay Area Plastic Surgery
After breast augmentation with lift surgery, it is typical for our patients to feel tired and sore; however, this soreness usually passes in a day or two with many patients returning to work within a week, though strenuous activity should be avoided for up to four weeks. The patient should also have an adult stay with them for 24 hours following the surgery to monitor their recovery.
Stitches are removed a week to 10 days after the surgery. Any post-operative pain, swelling, and/or sensitivity will commonly diminish over the first few weeks. Finally, scars from the incisions begin to fade in a few months and continue to fade for months or years to come.
Dr. Fazilat will schedule a follow-up post-recovery office visit in Morgan Hill or Mountain View, California to discuss your progress.
